The Principality of Sabourg maintains cultural and institutional relations with organisations, communities and international partners committed to protecting historical heritage and to cooperation between peoples.
This mission is entrusted to ministers of state for cooperation, one per continent, coordinated by the Cabinet of the Prince-Abbot.

International approaches
The three approaches below were formally initiated by the Principality in order to have its sovereignty recognised, while respecting the Italian protectorate.
- Recognition by the United Nations — the Prince-Abbot publicly subscribed to the Charter of the United Nations of 26 June 1945 and sent the Secretary-General an application for admission as a member state.
- Special autonomy within the Italian Republic — official request sent on 4 November 2020 to the head of the Italian government, on the basis of article 5 of the Italian Constitution, for the territories of the two Priories.
- Organisation of United Micro-Nations — an invitation to the heads of government of micro-nations to establish a joint body for cooperation.
Official visits and meetings
The main visits of the Prince-Abbot reported by the Secretariat of State:
- 23 January 2025 — officially received by the Prime Minister of Guinea Conakry.
- 15 January 2025 — guest of honour at the investiture of the President of the Republic of Mozambique.
- 13 December 2024 — received by a Head of State in Africa.
- 24 June 2024 — meeting at the Vatican.
